Davyd and his mother live in his grandparents’ house in a small town, which is 30 kilometers from the Chernobyl nuclear plant.
Davyd’s father left the family before the boy was born. Davyd’s mother has a job as social worker at the regional administration and works with problem families. She lost her twenty one-year-old daughter in August, 2003. The girl suffered from lupus.
The boy goes to the third grade now. His favorite school subjects are math and “Me and Ukraine”. When Davyd has free time, he likes to draw nature and to play soccer. Davyd would like to be a soccer player when he grows up. Health-wise, Davyd doesn’t have problems.
They attend a Christian church where Davyd’s mother is leading worship. His mother's prayer request is that her son Davyd would grow up being obedient to God, that he would be healthy and would serve the Lord and that Davyd's father would be delivered from alcohol addiction.
